Firsthand Revelation
At the end of the day, how are we to know that what anyone tells us about God is correct? We need prophets because they talk to God. The common man has never seen His face, and many cant even confess they have felt any particular feeling towards God. Moses talked to God face to face and published scripture. Jesus was the son of God, and taught the ways of eternal life. Other prophets ranging from Mohammed to Buda, to more obscure persons like Zoroaster, and even modern people have claimed to speak for God. Some have their own scriptures!
Every man is entitled to believe in and what he may. His conscience is his own, not to be taken. For my purposes though, it is eternally important to discover who is right out of all these parties. Not just who is good, but who is right. In other words: who has the keys to the door of eternal life?
It is readily apparent that you and I cannot take a prophet's word at face value. To many want our time and attention, and so little of spiritual matters can be proven one way or the other. However, despite that lack of provability, it is central to us that if we are going to know anything of religion at all, we must receive our own revelation.
Through asking of God, the direction e must go should become clear. If there were a God, and he was loving, all powerful, and all knowing would he leave us in the dark? or answer our question? I would therefore submit that an inquiry before God in prayer and honest study will answer the question: How do I know what is true and what is right? Try it out. Run out the experiment. This is the pattern for personal revelation. Search, ponder, and pray. I know it works. May Providence see you though!
